Unveiling an Unusual Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Poop on a Quest to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and players have encountered plenty of entertaining creations from small studios. Yet, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled platformer features a character that is truly a piece of poop striving to travel to a restroom. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."

The gameplay is easy to grasp: press a single jump button. Throughout numerous challenges, battle boss fights and unlock a store to acquire customizations for your fecal avatar.

Execute your movements precisely, as a wrong move means starting over. Jump off floating orbs to propel the poop upward, navigate disappearing surfaces, and activate triggers to unlock secret routes. Earn coins to purchase tougher stages as gameplay gets crazy.

Graphically, the demo features vibrant stages and an amazing background music. The simple visual style with morphing abstract forms may remind players of old favorites like Earthbound.

Even though difficult to think of other games where you play as a dung character, interactive entertainment frequently included toilet humor. For example, in Death Stranding, you can make throwables from character waste. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ feces as soil enrichment. Naturally, such content shows up extensively in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already earned notable recognition, such as being named best at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is ready now on Steam, with the full game set to arrive on Steam on November 19.
